From Principles to Practice: the Youth Declaration for Nuclear Cooperation as a Contribution to the UN SDGs.

Image
This side event will serve as the global launchpad for the Youth Declaration at the United Nations. As the world marks 80 years of the UN's impact, the role of science and technology in achieving the SDGs is more critical than ever. In September 2025, 100 young leaders from 33 countries gathered at the World Atomic Week in Moscow to create the Youth Declaration for Nuclear Cooperation. This landmark document, endorsed by leaders from the IAEA, ROSATOM, and nuclear agencies across BRICS and partner countries, articulates a youth-led vision for a safe, equitable, and sustainable nuclear future. It moves the conversation from abstract potential to concrete principles for action, directly contributing to the "transformative and coordinated actions" called for by the 2026 ECOSOC Youth Forum. Objectives: • Present the Youth Declaration for Nuclear Cooperation as a practical, youth-developed framework for leveraging nuclear science and technology to achieve the SDGs, specific...
