Amplifying the voices of young parliamentarians in development.

The World Bank Group Global Young MP Initiative is a platform for empowering young parliamentarians (45 and under) from around the globe in pursuit of the common goal of a world free of poverty on a livable planet. Young MPs are more likely to relate to, and therefore advocate for, legislation to promote issues such as climate action, human capital investments and youth job creation. They are better positioned to leverage technology to create opportunities and change, bringing fresh perspectives and innovations to policy discussions. Context Young people are grossly underrepresented in national Parliaments. According to research by the Inter-Parliamentary Union, only 2.8% of MPs are under 30 and 18.7% are under 40. Meanwhile, 63% of the global population, or more than 5 billion people, were under age 40 in 2022, with another 1.2 billion projected to reach working age in the Global South alone by 2033. Over the past years, the Russian Federation has prioritized a comprehensive approach to youth development, ensuring that young people have access to opportunities in various spheres, including civic participation, cultural engagement, science, sports, and entrepreneurship. Numerous initiatives have been launched to enhance youth infrastructure, provide targeted funding, and create enabling environments for young people across diverse fields. Closing ceremony of GlobalMUNers.

GlobalMUNers is a private non-profit institution constituted as a civil association in Mexico. It established an important partnership with National Model United Nations (NMUN), the world's largest and oldest ongoing intercollegiate MUN. This alliance has allowed us to keep alive the sole Model United Nations Conference to be hosted at the UN Headquarters whose primary working language is Spanish. Over 400 participants, among them Staff, teachers and students from middle school, high school and college will be traveling from Argentina, Bolivia, Canada, Colombia, Dominican Republic, France, Haiti, Mexico, Panama, Spain, the United States of America, and Venezuela to attend the academic encounter. 2025 National Model United Nations Conference (NMUN) - Closing Ceremony 4.

The National Model United Nations Conference (NMUN), a Model UN simulation for college and university students, will hold its closing ceremony in the General Assembly Hall (10 and 17 April). The largest and oldest ongoing intercollegiate Model UN in the world, NMUN participants represent more than 250 colleges and universities globally. Fifty-eight percent of participants come from outside the US, from more than 100 countries; Forty-two percent are from the US, representing all 50 states. Students participating in NMUN discuss current global issues in a real world context. NMUN•NY offers 16 simulated UN committees and uses procedural rules developed with the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR). NMUN annually holds two spring conferences in NYC, one conference in Washington, DC, and a rotating conference location with a partner university outside the US.
